Empowering indigenous local communities to live a more secure, healthier, safe and sustainable lifestyle.
Saru Maa works with the pastoralist Maasai communities resident in Kajiado county to ensure improved access to safe water, health care, better education and sustainable livelihood through community driven solutions.

Too many families still face preventable barriers to better health services, quality education and reliable sources of livelihood.
In many pastoralist communities, long distances to the scarce water sources, few and distant learning institutions, scare and ill-equipped health facilities and weak livelihood systems in the face of the current climate crisis continue to exert pressure on most households making them more vulnerable and threaten their very existence.

A community-rooted partner for lasting change.
Saru Maa was born out of community's most pressing basic needs that require immediate interventions. The founder and membership are entirely drawn from the local community. They started by helping needy learners access education and has since expanded to addressing broader community concerns like in health, water & sanitation, education, livelihood improvement and environment.
